1935 IF.5 MG-Wagen 36 Anti-Aircraft Mount (Germany)

In the middle of the 30s the Wehrmacht Command initiated the development of a wide range of various-purpose trailers which could be moved both horse-borne and mechanically drawn. They included the Infantriefahrzeug 5 (IF.5) 1G-Wagen 36 trailer, designed for the installation of the Zwillingsockel 36 air-defense turret in it. The turret had a circular field of fire and was an effective weapon against low altitude planes. The twin of the MG-34 general purpose machine guns with the summary firing speed of up to 1,800 shots per minute was mounted on the turret. The trailer was transported usually behind a limber and there was also a possibility to hitch the MG-Wagen 36 to an automobile. There were more than a thousand of the MG-Wagen 36 produced and less than ten trailers of this kind survived to the present day.
