1937 . T-20 Komsomolets (the USSR) mockup

At the end of 1936 year the design engineering department of plant No.7 developed a light half-armored artillery tractor under the leadership of N. A. Astrov. The major task of the tractor, which got the designation T-20 “Komsomolets”, was to transport a 45-mm antitank cannon and its limber, while the gun crew was carried on the benches in the rear of the vehicle. The tractor was armed with a machine-gun DT located in the ball mount in the body front. To protect the driver and the gunner the hull nose of the T-20 “Komsomolets” had armoring. The large-scale production started in 1937 and 7,780 of such vehicles were made till the end of July, 1941. In the autumn of 1941 100 tractors were converted for tank destroyers ZIS-30 with 57-mm antitank cannon ZIS-2 as primary armament.
