1930 RICHSHAWS

Richshaws were the main means to carry passengers in Shanghai in the 1930's. They were introduced to Shanghai from Japan in 1873, so they were called "dong yang che" (or eastern foreign vehicle). It was stipulated in 1913 that all the richshaws in business must be painted in yellow, so they used to be called "huang bao che" (or yellow vehicle).
