1994 Mercedes-Benz NECAR 1

With NECAR 1 (New Electric Car) Mercedes-Benz presented the world's first fuel cell-powered vehicle. The fuel cell converts hydrogen and oxygen into water. In the process, electric energy is produced which drives an electric motor. The equipment took up all the space in the van’s load compartment - much in contrast to today’s vehicles with fuel cell drive.

• Drive Electric motor with fuel cell
• Fuel Hydrogen
• Output 30 kw / 41 hp
• Top speed 90 km/h / 56 mph
• Range 130 km / 80 mls
