1987 Karpaty-2

The Carpaty is a mokick, produced at Lvov motor plant. Earlier the plant specialized in trailers production, but in 1958 it was decided to master a new line of activity — mopeds production. At first the series of the moped model Verkhovina was launched, that exerted material influence on home-produced two-wheeled motor vehicles of those days. Since the spring of 1981 the plant began to build the model Carpaty-1; in 1986 it was replaced by a modified model Carpaty-2. The Mokicks Carpaty-2 and Delta (of Rizhsky motor plant) were similar in the construction and had some differences in the design.

The Carpaty-2 (LMZ-2.161) differed from the model Carpaty by the shape of the tank (there were no round straps on the tank), plastic lids (till 1986 there were small caps with the figure “50”) and a tail lamp. The engines V-50 (later V-50M) with hand shifting or V-501 (later V-501M) with gear changing by foot were mounted. From 1987 till 1997 a big square plastic headlamp was installed.
