1950 VGTZ DT-54

A new DT-54 tractor with improved economy and durability was created on the base of SHTZ-NATI. A four-cylinder four-stroke D-54А diesel with swirl chamber mixing, water-cooled was fixed on the tractor. The fuel volume delivered into cylinders was regulated by a centrifugal all-range governor with a corrector. The start of the diesel was performed by a pony motor. The decompressor was two-stage. The end metal spring- loaded oil seals were applied in the undercarriage system.

When being modernized a close cab was installed on the DT-54. After the hydraulic hang-on system had been set the tractor got the production mark DT-54А. The swamp modification DT-55А was made on the base of this tractor. High towing performance and passing ability, as well as low cost made the DT-54 tractor extremely popular in the agriculture in 1950-60ies.
