1953 Jawa 350 / 354 Velorex

In the autumn of 1953 new models of the motorcycles JAWA appeared. A parallel production of the motorbikes with an engine displacement of 250 cm3 and 350 cm3 was got running. The new motorcycle with an engine capacity of 250 cm3 received the designation JAWA-250 of model 353. The produced parallel JAWA-350 of model 354 had absolutely the same running gear as the previous model. The engine of that model did not changed, either. Nevertheless, the fundamental running characteristics of the bikes JAWA-250/353 and JAWA-350/354 were improved essentially.

In 1953-1954 the production of the motorcycles with one-pedal change and start gear (for export) began. Their standard designation is JAWA-250 model 353/02 and JAWA-350 model 354/02. Foreign trade organizations were interested in motorcycles of larger power at the same actual displacement, with higher speed, which would be safe when in operation. Therefore in 1955 the enterprise JAWA began to produce the bikes JAWA-250 model 353/03 JAWA-350 model 354/03. Their radical departure was an increased engine power: to 8.8 kW (12 hp) with the JAWA-250 and 11.8 kW (16 hp) with the JAWA-350.

In 1957 the enterprise JAWA began the production of the follow-on models, namely JAWA-250 model 353/04 and JAWA-350 model 354/04. The engine was almost not changed only except for intake-noise dampers.
