1941 Steyr Typ 270 Kfz.69

In 1941 Ferdinand Porsche developed a heavy a command four-wheel drive vehicle of 1,500 kg load capacity. One of the major distinctions of the automobile, received the designation Porsche Typ 147, was a V-shaped 8-cylinder engine with an air cooling. The production of the automobile was kick-started on the facilities of the firm Steyr, the vehicle was commercialized in the middle of 1941 under the index Steyr 270, also it is famous under the index Steyr Typ 1500A. Since 1943 the firm Wanderer Werke Siegmar hooked into the production and since that time the cars of the Steyr production got the index 1500A/01, the cars Steyr having serial number beginning with 270.01, and the Wanderer – with 270.02. From the end of 1943 the model 1500 A/02 was launched, which featured more simplified body. A total of 12,450 Steyr 270 and 1500 A/01, plus 5,600 cars of the model 1500 A/02 were produced from 1941 till 1944. Only two such vehicles remained. One of them in the form of chassis stood in the exposition of the company “Collector’s Automobiles”.
