1937 Maybach SW38
Introduced in 1935 Maybach SW35 had under the hood a "modest" six-cylinder engine with the capacity of just 3.5 liters. However, in spite of such sizes, it could develop the power of 140 hp at a torque of up to 4,500 rev / min. But there was more to come, that SW35 was the first car, which could boast of an independent steering.
Somewhat later, in 1936, an improved version of the Maybach SW38 with an engine of 3.8 liters capacity and 140 hp was shown to buyers. Finally, in 1942, Karl Maybach produced the last representative of the line SW with a 4.2 liter engine, known as SW 42.
All models in this series had an open version of the body, made to order by the firm "Spohn". During the war and postwar years, more than 900 cars of this series were sold, subsequently three of them served as the main means of transport for the top management of the company Maybach-Motorenbau GmbH for a long time.
