After many attempts on the base of the “Beetle” Porsche makes his first own car – Type 64, created as a sporting version of the beetle. Porsche Type 64 was being produced with the only aim: to win a victory in the race Berlin-Rome, the victory would have to be an apparent triumph of the fascist ideology. Having been built with the use of aluminum, the 64 was equipped with a 50 horsepower engine and was able to pick up the speed of 160 km/h. There were built three cars altogether, one model of Porsche himself survived in America, the exhibition itself has got a modern replica.
