Porsche 550 (also famous as Spyder or RS) was the first racing car of the company Porsche. It was created by German Walter Glöckler, who was inspired by the model Porsche 356. Afterwards he himself piloted the 550 model in different car races. For the first time the car was represented at Paris Motor Show in 1953. The model 550 presented a two-seater auto with an open top, aluminum streamlined body and lightweight chassis in the kind of a tube ladder frame. The model was equipped with four-cylinder 1.5 liter motor of Type 547 with opposed cylinders, providing 100 hp. At that the car weighed 550 kg.
