The Mercedes-Benz W114 / W115 is the first real mass-produced car by the famous company Mercedes-Benz, manufactured during the times from 1968 through 1976. In fact the W114 / W115 is the preceding model of all modern E-class Mercedes. About 2 million automobiles of this model were built for the whole manufacturing period. At the beginning of 1976 model year the W114/W115 series was replaced by the Mercedes-Benz W123 one, representing its further development.
The W114/W115 series boasted advanced technological innovations. 1969 saw the introduction of the Bosch D-jetronic fully electronic fuel injection system into the coupe 250CE. This was the first ever production Mercedes-Benz to use this system. Other innovations in the W114/W115 models include a center console (the first in a Mercedes sedan), ribbed taillights in 1974. All coupe models used the 6-cylinder engine (and thus were W114s) and were designated with a "C" in the model name, which became traditional for all two-door models Mercedes-Benz.
