1996 UAZ-22069

The UAZ-2206 represents further development of the microbus UAZ-452V. Within the framework of 1985 modernization the microbus received the same changes as other vehicles of the family. At that a new model actually did not differ from its predecessor in appearance – only partially – the car had a one-piece window without a quarter vent in the middle window on the left side. It is worth noting that in the process of the modernization GOST-8769-75 – all-Union State Standard - (off-board light engineering) for microbuses was not maintained to the full: upper clearance lamps fore and aft have never come into being on the vehicle.

Till 2000 the UAZ was certified according to a small list of requirements, which did not include the requirements of the UNECE Rules No. 52, regarding the buses with few seats (even the passenger UAZ did not correspond completely to these Rules). Afterwards in 2001 when the production of the UAZ-39625 started, which at once was referred to special transport vehicles, on the basis of Certification System GOST-R, the UAZ-2206 and its modifications were also referred to special passenger transport vehicles (as consistent with Section 3 of the System), to which the part of Rules No. 52 was not applied. In such case the entry was made in VTA (Vehicle Type Approval), that the cars could not be used in the capacity of a route vehicle.

The production of the UAZ-2206 still continues. In consequence of necessity to conform to environmental standards the microbus’s engine was improved several times and now it satisfies the level “Euro-4”. The UAZ-22069 is a bus with the engine UMZ-4218 of 2.8 liter displacement (northern implement is designated as UAZ-22069-090), and there is a demonstration car with a decorative molding in the museum.
