1966 NSU RO 80

Engine: Twin rotor Wankel
Capacity: 996 cc
Max power output: 130 bhp at 5500 rpm
Max speed: 180 km/h

NSU was founded at the end of the 19th century at Neckarsulm. Its innovative Ro 80 model had a very advanced bodywork line and was equipped with the patented Wankel rotating piston engine that attracted great attention in the 1960s on account of its silent running and absence of reciprocating mechanicals.
In 1969, NSU became a part o the Wolkswagen Group. Development and production of the Ro 80, however, were abandoned in view of the engineering problems posed by the Wankel engine and the uncertainties attending its volume production.
