2006 Lada Raid

AvtoVAZ displayed the mockup of the sport prototype Lada Raid, in which the hints at a perspective model could be found, at Moscow International Automobile Show 2006 that took place in “Crocus Expo”. As a famous Niva of 1976 manufacturing year it has got big round headlamps above which distinctive “eyebrows” were accommodated, recognizable stamped reinforcement ribs were in the top part of the side panel, a familiar form denoted by three vent holes. The author of the design is Vladimir Yartsev, who depicted VAZ 2110 twenty years ago. Now he lives in Belgium and carries out the projects against the orders of European companies.

The Lada Raid was a racing car with which AvtoVAZ was planning to participate in the marathon Paris – Dakar in 2008. A bodywork basic structure and a number of plastic component parts had already been created for the first Lada Raid. An engine Porsche of 3.8 l capacity and a sequential 6-speed gearbox had to be mounted on the Lada Raid.

The automobile was fitted with a 500-liter fuel tank and three spare wheels, a spares and accessories kit and other necessary for a marathon things could be located in a spacious baggage compartment. The Lada Raid still remained in one copy.
