The Bianchi Tonale I75cc motorcycle. In 1956 the Tonale 175, ridden by Gino Franzosi, won the Giro d'Italia as well as the Milano Taranto with Daminelli in the “Derivate di Serie" category (Modified Production Motorcycles). At the end of 1956 Franzosi beat the mile record at Castelfusano and only just missed breaking the kilometre one as well. For the endurance records in 1957, the Tonale was fitted with a special and particulary prolonged fairing designed in collaboration with Engineer Nardi, the aeroplane designer and the frame was also elongated and given a trellis structure. With this version, the 1000 km record was broken on 19th November 1957 at Monza in 23' 9" at an average speed of 185.664 Km/h as well as the six-hour record with a distance of 1114.428 km at an average speed of 185,721 kph. This record-breaking 175 Tonale. with its dynamic, fiery and elegant fairing, is the very same vehicle that you can admire on the second floor of the Museo Nicolis. It is the queen of the 1950 Sporting years.
