After the A6 1500 and the A6G 2000 with their single camshaft engines, in 1954 Maserati began production on the A6G/54 with its twin camshaft engine derived from the world of racing. The chassis was assigned to Frua, Allemano and Zagato for the bodywork. Zagato proposed a spider version, of which only one was built, and a Berlinetta version, of which 20 cars were built all with different aesthetic features (a couple of vehicles were built with the famous "double bubble" roof).
