The Tipo 60 was nicknamed “Birdcage" by the British press, due to the unusual chassis designed by Giulio Alfieri.
Built with two engine capacities (2000 and 2890cc), it showed what it could do by carrying Moss-Gurney to victory in 1960, and then Casner-Gregory in 1961, in the 1000 km of Nurburgring - the most demanding test bench for the dynamic qualities of a racing car. It won many races in the USA, and held sway over the Italian uphill races with Odoardo Govoni and Mennato Boffa.
