Electric railcar RCe 2/4 No 203 Red Arrow CFF 1936 With the Red Arrows, the Swiss locomotive industry and the Swiss Federal Railways set new standards. The maximum speed was raised from 100 to 125 km/h. The vehicle, weighing only 33 tons, had a self-supporting body made of lightweight steel profiles without an underframe, welded body-panelling, and aluminium fittings. It also had tubular steel seats, and doors with low stepboards. For the first time the driver’s position was in the main compartment, so passengers also had a clear view of the track ahead.
