Bogie of the electric locomotive Ce 6/6 n 121 Bern-Lotschberg-Simplon BLS 1910 The BLS was the first European mountain railway to use single-phase alternating current for the electrification of its Litschberg mountain line. The overall design, as well as some of the bogie details, were ahead of their time. The drive from the motor was transmitted to the driving axles using the newly-developed system of inclined rods. This type of transmission was subsequently used on many hundreds of locomotives all over the world during the following 62 years. MFO SLM 90 t 1472 kW 72 km/h restored by BLS in operation 1910-1968
