1956 Mercedes-Benz 180 W120

Mercedes Benz 180 W120 Ponton 1956

en.wikipedia.org
Mercedes-Benz W120/121 was an automobile of E-class (business class). It was produced from 1953 till 1962. The model had the name “Ponton”. That model was replaced by W110 «Fintail» in 1961.
The W120 (180) appeared in 1953 and resembled exteriorly the larger Ponton cars of 220 series. Moreover, both the petrol variant and the diesel variant (180D) were produced.
In 1956 the model W121 (190) was introduced, which had the body similar to the 180, but a more powerful engine and a luxurious interior. The roadster R121 190SL (see SL-class) was built on the base of the 180. All together by 1962 442,963 W120 and W121 cars were produced. All models of Ponton generation looked alike very much, nobody can differ clear the 220SE from the 180, only the presence of chromized parts and larger size help define the other model. It was the only generation, in which all models looked extremely similar, though the 300 series was esclusive.
Wheelbase: 2,649 mm
