1937 BMW R-35

The BMW R 35 was a simple and stylish one-cylinder motorcycle. Its rather non-expensive price helped the company maintain its economic position in the hard time. The R 35 became the improvement of the R-2 with 200 cc engine. The R 35 had the engine of 342 сm3 capacity and was produced from 1937 to 1940. Altogether there were 15,386 motorcycles made.

Manufactured from 1937 to 1940 and again, after the end of the war, the R 35 was able to generate 14bhp at 4500rpm and a top speed of 100km/h. Its engine of 350cc was derived from the R4, which had a displacement of 400cc. With over 15000 units sold by 1940 and 100000 between 1937 and 1955, this bike was the most successful BMW model, being used in particular by the police and the military authorities. After the war the R35 was reborn when its production was restarted in Eisenach.
